MonkeyRat Releases Funk/Pop Hit "Niels Uni Dam" Celebrating Faroese Culture and Humour

Dive into the vibrant rhythms of MonkeyRat's latest single "Niels Uni Dam," a funky tribute to a local cultural supporter set to the spirited sounds of the Hentze Horns.

From the serene landscapes of the Faroe Islands, the dynamic duo of Anna Iachino and Arnold Ludvig, known collectively as MonkeyRat, introduce their first release of 2024 with a funk/pop banger titled "Niels Uni Dam." This track is an embodiment of fun and funk, designed to get listeners up and dancing to its infectious beat.

Anna, a multifaceted artist—songwriter, vocalist, and dancer—alongside award-winning bassist and composer Arnold Ludvig, concocted a track that reflects both their musical prowess and a sense of community spirit. Arnold arranged the lively Hentze Horns to bring Anna's vision of a funky number alive, adding layers of humor and warmth to the song, inspired by a local cultural enthusiast, Niels Uni Dam.

So, what's to be expected then? Ring Ring a repetative statement is met on the other end of the telephone. Then you will find yourself transported into disco funk and oh you won't be disappointed! Big Band energy, funky guitar riffs and a whole lot to dance about. The vocals are pop-tinged, and ultimately easy to sing along to. It's as catchy as they come, I'm hooked!

Niels Uni Dam, a steadfast supporter of the local arts, especially the open mic nights hosted by Anna and Arnold since 2015 in Tórshavn, inspired this track. His prompt and efficient updates to event details sparked the humorous realization and subsequent creation of this tribute song. Anna's realization of Niels's surname, "Dam," coinciding with her exclamations of admiration, led to the playful pun that titles this track.

"Niels Uni Dam" in essence is a celebration of the cultural exchange and community support that thrives within the Faroese capital. It is a testament to MonkeyRat's dedication to blending different art forms and engaging with their community through music. More please!
