Heistheartist’s latest release, ‘Caught Out There,’ is a Kelis cover unlike any other. Performed acoustically with a piano in the back, it shifts the tone of the song completely. It's smooth, wonderful and arrives feeling contented rather than abashed. It's slower and houses a lot of soul and emotion between the lyrics; in textures that come from that piano which pairs with the crispy vocal like a fine wine and together the song unfurls, similar yet wholly unique, into a song that is so divergent from the original you would be hard pressed to place it.
It's a fantastic undertaking to give a song a new lease of life like this. Switch the genre and the vibe and create something new. Heistheartist has pushed a lot of thought and understanding into this track and you can feel it. Their version of ‘Caught Out There’ is honest, freeing and delightfully sombre.
