Blending Fiction and Fantasy in an Alternative Rock Masterpiece
Canadian indie rock artist and multi-instrumentalist Pranatricks is back with the release of "Birds and the Bees," marking the latest single off his forthcoming album "Elements of."
Known for his captivating storytelling ways and diverse instrumentation, Pranatricks continues his musical journey with this romantic and alternative rock ode.
Released on November 17, 2023, "Birds and the Bees" is a tale woven through music, which explores a fictional world where fantasy, love, and primal instincts collide. The song's narrative is led by doubled vocals and electric guitar, to unfold a story of love rooted in misunderstanding, with an aim to bridge differences through shared passion.
There's no hanging around, Pranatricks' go right in from the first beat with vocal harmonies and lead guitar. The track's layers offer Rhodes piano, drums, percussion, and several synth lines, to create twists and turns throughout. The layered synth arpeggios and chorus of horns infuse the song with a devotional quality, celebrating the reverence found in intimate relationships. The absence of lead vocals towards the end of the piece allows for an enjoyable mix of influences and skills to come to light. It's wicked! A great listen and one that I will return to as a lover of eclectic music.
Written back in 2011, "Birds and the Bees" has been a labor of love, with parts recorded in various home studios across Vancouver. The final touch, the trumpets by Anthony Shackell, was added in Pranatricks’ Comox Valley studio, bringing the track to its full fruition.
As fans eagerly await "Elements of," set for release on April 4, 2024, Pranatricks will be dropping seven singles from the 10-track album in six-week intervals. His commitment to his craft, coupled with his family life in Comox Valley, BC, paints the picture of an artist deeply rooted in his surroundings.
