FEATURED ARTIST *AMAVA* Muse SINGLE REVIEW + INTERVIEW

FEATURED ARTIST

AMAVA

Nashville, United States

BACKGROUND

Rising pop act AMAVA is back with her latest single “Muse,”. This is an electro-tinged production which layers her sultry vocals over a hazy soundscape. Inspired the idea of being someone’s muse, the empowering track breaks down the perception that our self-worth is tied to how someone else views us, instead encouraging us to reclaim our identities with confidence. With a sound she self-describes “music to feel to,” the 25-year-old singer has a in background folk music, which is now leaning more towards modern-day pop. I was so intrigued to hear this track! Wanna know my thought? Yeah? you can read them below.

REVIEW

'Muse' is a dreamy pop track infused with several vocal switches. Well, that's at least what I thought during the opening. Packed with autotune we instantly get brought into a spaced out realm. Various autotune is used in both the main and backing vocals and remain present throughout. A track that takes EDM to the next level, it brings all sorts of energies to the surface. There's an unbelievable amount of sound in this song that have been manipulated in the perfect way! The vocal chops work really well together, sometimes having so many processed elements to vocals can make it sound messy but that definitely is the opposite in this track. The hook is mega catchy. The lyrics are quite dark when you take the time to break them down but the overall production is a vibe! Get it on your playlists today by clicking the link below because this artist is about to blow quicker than a burst pipe. Want to know more? GOOD! We managed to grab AMAVA for a chat so scroll down and see what her plans are for the rest of the year and beyond!

INTERVIEW

What would be your ultimate achievement for your latest single?

This single has already blown any expectation I had for it out of the water. I think my ultimate achievement for this single would be for it to be the one that people really build a community around.

Is there a particular vision that you had when putting the song together?

When I started this song it was originally a ballad, so any vision I had for it immediately shifted when I took the framework of the idea to the producer (Lucas Arens). I think once we blew it up into a pop song I just knew we had to have the most euphoric sounding final chorus.

When did you first realise that you had the potential to be an artist?

This sounds somewhat silly but when I was very much on Tumblr and involved in a lot of different communities on there, I was exposed to a lot of different people I followed and went on to have huge music careers. I really saw them grow into their own amazing artistry when I began to follow them when they were just doing music from their bedroom. I think at that point I was like “oh I can do that too.”

Is there a memory that has stuck in your mind as the turning point for you?

I think doing my first ever show where I was doing pop stands out the most. I grew up writing and performing folk music so I’ve always had this sense of comfortability standing on stage with a guitar. When I was up on stage for the first time with a wireless mic and a really over-the-top dress, that’s when I was like “this is what being a pop artist feels like.”

How would you define your sound?

Music that gives you that feeling in your chest. I made a joke one time about my music sounding like a “glittered haunted house” and I still stand by that.

This might be a tricky one but Studio vs Live - Which do you prefer and why?

I think right now I would say Live as that’s all I've known for 2 years post 2020. There’s just something about a studio that emulates somewhat of a blank canvas where there’s so much opportunity to just create. I think as I play live more and eventually tour I will fall in love with the live music life.

If you had the opportunity to work with one of your favorite musical artists, who would you most like to collaborate with and why?

A.G. Cook. I love everything he’s ever produced and it’s my dream to have an incredible dance song done by him.

What are your future plans?

For my music to connect with as many people as possible. I also wanna wear all my fun outfits on stage.

What can we look forward to for the rest of 2022?

Lots and lots of music and live shows.

We love to hear it! Where can we find the track?

On all streaming platforms. Also, I love when people DM me and I usually end up leaking snippets of new things to people.
