'I Do' - Colleen Rennison's Soulful Retro-Inspired Single Echoes The Magic of Summer Romance

Vancouver-based artist Colleen Rennison shares the magic of a summer romance in her new single 'I Do,' now available on all digital streaming platforms.

The track, a laid-back R&B number with proud retro influences, emanates a hopeful optimism that's irresistibly sweet. 'I Do' is the second single off her forthcoming album 'Persephone,' set to drop later this year.

Rennison's intent with 'I Do' was to encapsulate the thrilling yet agonizing feelings associated with having a crush. The artist shares, "I wanted to capture the excitement and delicious agony of being enamoured with someone and daydreaming about them to the point of almost insanity." The influence of classic bands like The Temptations and The Supremes is audible in the track's nostalgic and soulful vibe.

This isn't Rennison's first foray into the music scene. She first gained recognition in 2011 with blues-rock group No Sinner, where her powerful vocals drew comparisons to blues legends like Janis Joplin and Maggie Bell. However, Rennison's sound is uniquely her own, each note charged with emotion and personal experience.

After the band's dissolution in 2016, Rennison attempted to carve out a solo career in New York and Austin, to mixed results. A return to Vancouver and a self-imposed exile to Vancouver Island led to a dark period for the singer, until, in a miraculous turn of events, she found the support she needed.

Beginning 2021, Rennison teamed up with producer Felix Fung, and together they have crafted what she believes will be "the truest expression of her art and her first true masterpiece." 'I Do' is a promising glimpse into what's to come from Colleen Rennison, offering a blend of contemporary soul, retro influences, and lyrical honesty that's sure to captivate listeners.
