REVIEW

#TrishDisord has released her latest album entitled #TheAftermathof2016 on June 17th. This 10 track project combines shoegaze, Darkwave and more to create a cinematic experience for listeners. The album opens with a track named #23. This is a piece that sets the bar in a futuristic cinematic way. The piece mixes experimentalism with the heaviness of rock. Imagine Evanescence with an electronic twist. #InAnotherLife continues to use electronic elements. This track is brilliantly crafted. EDM drum loops integrate their place between rock drum progressions to create something I've not heard before. The mix between Electronic and Heavy Rock lures you into the piece. #Crashing is packed with high energy, dark energy at that. Reverbed vocals offer something distant and new - an element of distortion without sounding cloudy. A nice addition to the album. #Strife slows things down bringing shoegaze into the album. Of course, the heaviness is still found in this track as it develops. One thing that really stands out here is the introduction of autotuned vocals. The transpose here showcases an artist who isn't afraid to cross genres, and experiment with her art. #Desire has an uneasy feel about it through the out of sync nature of the vocals and drumming. Again, the heaviness of the lead guitar lifts the words of an eccentric mind. There are some great guitar riffs here that offer a rest from the dominance of the strums. #ICantWaittoForgetYou is a track that you have got to add to your playlists - going through a breakup? Angry at something? Go work out and blast this track! #RedSun leans back into indie rock with a hint of shoegaze. This track offers a break between the heavier stuff..but only for a minute. #TakeMeAway delves back into the electronic offering synth keys as a main melody - completely different to the guitar dominance. Of course, guitar does make an appearance in the track, just not through the verses. I like this new structure! #ThisIsTheEnd is a track that is not joking. The lyrics very much state that the artist is done playing games in this closing piece. #Split is extremely dark - I'm down for it. #TrishDiscord discusses elements of a split personality in this confessional piece. What would be your ultimate achievement for your latest release?

For this latest album, I hope to reach more people and have them connect with music that came from a different stage of my life.

Is there a particular vision that you had when putting the song together?

The vision for making the album was to make the listener feel like they were facing the same struggles in a foreign land and to relate to the dynamics there politically and personally.

If you could define music in one short sentence (no cheating) what would you say?

I would define music as the fruition of sound with emotion combined to change how you feel.

One artist you would bring back to life?

I would bring back John Lennon cause he was an amazing artist.

When did you first realise that you had the potential to be an artist? Is there a memory that has stuck in your mind as the turning point for you?

A memory that became a turning point was seeing other friends perform their songs and thinking about how I had things to express and this was the perfect way to do it.

Do you play any instruments? If not, is there a specific one that you'd like to learn?

I play guitar at the moment. I would define my sound as pop rock/alternative/indie/electronic rock.

What's the story behind your artist name?

The story behind my name is that I didn’t realize the “discord” app was out when I created it and wanted my name to express things being out of harmony and showing that through song.

What is the biggest challenge you've faced as an artist?

The biggest challenge I would say is trying to promote yourself in a sea of artists that are trying to do the same thing. I usually just try to be as authentic as possible so I won’t have to worry about coming across like someone else.

Where would you like to be 5 years from now?

5 years from now I would like to grow my following and go on a few US tours.
