Delve into the politically charged world of Namibian hip-hop artist Proklaim with his latest single 'Thieves', a compelling blend of afrobeat rhythms and thought-provoking lyrics

Namibia's finest, Proklaim is back with his newly released single 'Thieves. The single was recorded in Namibia and mixed by Lu Diaz in Florida but before we have a listen to the piece let's get into the basics. Who is Proklaim? Well, Proklaim has been on our radar for quite some time, making wave after wave since our first discovery of him in June 2022. His music always seems to outdo itself with every release, and this is what makes his releases so enjoyable to follow. If you're new to the world of Proklaim, you'll probably want to know what's so special about his music that it deserves your time? Well, look, seeing as you're here, I know that you're looking for something to explore. Where better to start than hitting play on the track at the bottom of the page?

Taking his main influence from the likes of Nas, Tupac, Jay Z, Lauryn Hill, and Drake, Proklaim's hip-hop roots rest firmly in conscious hip-hop with a dash of Drake's fresh aura. 'Thieves' is a hip-hop track with a lot of commercial potential. Standing tall in political roots, Proklaim takes to introduce a speech-based opening, not of his own, but an extract of some form. The lyrics, are a commentary on life and society as seen by the artist with words that make you think before any music, I knew I was onto something special. I was hooked, before the hook.

As the beats come in, listeners are introduced to a mix of afrobeat and trap beats, along with an almost Latin-inspired acoustic guitar. The instrumental alone is enough to write home about. In relation to the vocals, well, Proklaim is a fresh take on Kendrick Lamar with ridiculously speedy vocals, political lyricism, and depth to his pen.

As a notable figure in the hip-hop scene, Proklaim has graced the screens on MTV Bass on Kingz Video, showcasing his talent to a broader audience. His ethos, "Follow intuition, the stirring in your chest," is a guiding force in his music, especially in "Thieves."

Did I think I was going to be disappointed? Not for a split second, and I was not disappointed. Another amazing piece from Proklaim. The only critique I have is WHERE IS THE ALBUM? and that Prokaim's releases could be taken to the next level with carefully picked featured artists.
