TJPL Editorial Standards & Ethics Policy
Last Updated: 26th August 2025
At TJPL News, our mission is to uncover and celebrate independent music worldwide. We provide both editorial coverage and promotional services. To protect the integrity of our journalism and maintain transparency with artists, readers, and industry partners, we uphold the following ethical standards:
1. Editorial Independence
All reviews, interviews, and editorial features are created independently by our writers and editors.
Promotional services do not guarantee positive coverage or inclusion in independent editorial sections.
Writers are free to express critical opinions based solely on the artistic merit of the work.
2. Clear Distinction Between Editorial & Promotion
Paid promotional features are always clearly labelled as “Sponsored Feature”, “Promoted by TJPL”, or similar.
Independent editorial content is marked as “Editorial Feature”.
This ensures readers can easily distinguish between editorial opinion and paid promotional content.
3. Referral & Loyalty Programme Transparency
TJPL operates a referral and loyalty programme for promotional services only.
Referral commissions are paid when artists book promotional services (e.g. features, podcast appearances, magazine placements).
Referral incentives do not influence or apply to editorial coverage.
4. Disclosure of Relationships
When TJPL publishes editorial content about an artist who has also purchased promotional services, we will include a disclosure such as:
“This artist has previously worked with TJPL News on promotional services. This article is editorial and written independently.”
5. Advertorials & Sponsored Content
Advertorials are accepted but must always:
Be clearly marked as paid content.
Meet our editorial standards in tone and quality.
Never mislead readers about their promotional nature.
6. Complaints & Grievances
We take all feedback seriously.
If you feel misrepresented or misled by our coverage, please contact support@tjplnews.com
All complaints will be reviewed within 14 working days.
7. Conflict of Interest
Writers and editors must disclose any personal or financial connections with artists they cover.
If a conflict of interest is identified, another contributor may be assigned to the piece.
8. Transparency & Accountability
TJPL will publish an annual transparency statement summarising:
How editorial independence has been maintained.
This is part of our long-term commitment to fairness, integrity, and reader trust.
9. Commitment to Independent Music
We believe in a fair and thriving ecosystem for independent artists. By combining promotional services with editorial content transparently, TJPL News provides artists with opportunities while protecting the
trust of our readers and audiences.
