INTRODUCING *Benjamin Corson*

FEATURED ARTIST

Benjamin Corson

New York, United States

ARTIST BACKGROUND

Benjamin Corson + guests present a seven track album entitled 'Mirage'. Taking inspiration from artists such as Pink Floyd, Led zeppelin and Doyle Bramhall This already is making waves with this project. Benjamin Corson has had two of his songs from the album played on French Pop/rock station by Francis Zegut on RTL2! 'Mirage' is also on playlist on Morow radio et Radio U! I was super excited to review this album and once I heard it I reached out to Benjamin for an interview. Let's get into it then!

MIRAGE REVIEW

This Seven track album from Benjamin Corson is a journey through all subtypes of rock. With appearances from classic rock, soul rock, 80/90s rock and beyond we were absolutely blown away by the fusion found in the album entitled 'Mirage'. So, let's get into it then. Opening with 'Cracking The Code' we're instantly given slick and funky guitar strums, solos and a rolling drum progression. I was hooked within the first ten seconds, something artists should always aim to do in order to keep their audience interested. As the track develops we hear a second drum arrangement along with a subtle but effective bass riff that works behind the guitar solos. This is one talented piece of work. Track 2 'Wild and Free' opens with a slower drum roll but shocks us with its heavy rock and role riffs and classic rock and roll vocals. I'M A HUGE FAN OF THIS SONG! The wild and free attitude of the artist claims that he will never be broken as he sings his fate throughout this piece. Knowing that he means what he speaks, he shows us exactly why he's a rock star. This track is staying on my personal playlist for a long time. Track three entitled 'Dolion' takes a different approach in its opening, rather than hearing the drum rolls that were present in the first two tracks, 'Dolion' opens with soulful guitar which sets the tone of this piece. As the drums join in, they do not overpower the atmospheric guitar, they're levelled to perfection to allow the guitarist to really show the power that they hold. This is my favorite track off of this album so far. Now half way through this project, we hear 'You Are A Woman Now' opens with something fresh. "Shock, Fear, Pain" are the opening words from a female voice. Panned in a way that is reminiscent of affirmations I was instantly intrigued and captivated by this piece. Accompanied by a beautiful choir we hear the introduction of a church organs as the narrative tells a story of survival. This track is absolutely incredible and moving. The production the words and the execution of the words are out of this world. A story of hope, peace and love are brought into the track through a completely gospel production. This song deserves the most accreditation possible to man. I'm completely taken aback by the complete u turn that this piece opens with when compared to the previous tracks on the album. As we move further into the song we hear hints of the signature guitar and rock inspired nature that this artist holds - but this song, this, is exactly what music should be. 'MLKDBGCJ' whisks us back into the heavy rock and roll feel that was found earlier in the album. Again, the guitar solos are out of this world. This is an album that I want to hear performed live! Samples of Martin Luther King's speech 'I had a dream' are embedded in the narrative of this piece. Through this and the previous track we have seen the narrative to the album become political and I'm 100% here for it! The penultimate piece entitled 'Madseen' opens with a bell chime that is accompanied by the sound of shuffling and is shortly joined by the sound of birds. This is a mindful opening to a track that keeps on giving more. Concluding the album is 'Mirage' another soulful blues inspired production that goes all in to capture your attention. Slow, smooth and beautifully sung I was completely consumed in the soulful nature and tone of the track. I'm absolutely blown away by this whole project. There are so many influences, voices, narratives and genres found in this project that I don't think I could portray its excellence if I was given 10000000000 words. This is an album that is for EVERYONE. I can't imagine it not appealing to all Western listeners and beyond. I would be extremely shocked if this album doesn't make history. It's projects like this one that remind me of why I do what I do in this industry. This is an absolute gem of an album please make sure that you click the link below and listen to it.

INTERVIEW

What would be your ultimate achievement for your latest project?

To win a well deserved grammy for "Mirage" ;))))

I genuinely hope that you get one! You deserve it! Is there a particular vision that you had when putting the song together?

"Mirage" represents my hopes, fears, desires and dreams. I found in that song and therefore in that album , a guiding and never ending nourishing experience.

If you could define music in one short sentence (no cheating) what would you say?

Music is the grand Healer.

I can hear that philosophy throughout the whole of the album, it touched my soul deeply. One artist you would bring back to life?

My beautiful Gran Mother

That is the most beautiful answer to this that question I have heard so far! When did you first realise that you had the potential to be an artist?

When I was 16 years old

Is there a memory that has stuck in your mind as the turning point for you?

I vividly remember playing guitar in my room( I had started a year before), and thinking that I knew what I was gonna do with my life: being a musician.

Do you play any instruments?

I am a Guitar player, and occasionally plays bass ( played on 2 trap of my album)

If not, is there a specific one that you'd like to learn?

I'd like to play the piano in the future...

How would you define your sound?

I think in order to find your sound, you truly have to find yourself. To dig as deep as you can and find what are the reasons that bring you to play and record those notes at a certain time...A friend told me once: "You play who you are"...I hope my sound is true, soothing and that it tells a story that touches people 's heart.

What is the biggest challenge you've faced as an artist?

Definitely to put this whole album together. I've learned in the process of making this album that anything is possible.I,for the first time, composed, arranged and mixed it all. Mixing was such a vague concept when I started ( and I ll never consider myself as a mixer hein?!), I just thought it was totally out of reach. But being so passionate and dedicated to your craft can bring you far.I ve worked tirelessly for one and a half year, and here it is...MIRAGE.

The most important lesson that I ve learned is that if you have a vision, just follow your heart s desire and don t listen to anybody but you.Learning to trust yourself and not being afraid of judgment.

What are your future plans?

I am looking for to compose for and produce more music. As much as I ve loved playing live these past 20 years; recording and producing music is more about making a mark that will last forever. It s about working on your craft and spending time polishing your ideas. Playing live is another energy, it s fantastic too !, but once it s done, a gig as good as it is, becomes a memory that will fade with time... Recording this album fulfilled me in new ways that I truly didn't t expect. I would love to compose for movies, projects, bands and keep recording my own solo stuff.

What can we look forward to for the rest of 2022?

I am already finishing new songs that I will release sometime soon ;)

Where would you like to be 5 years from now?

I wanna life to fulfill me on every levels, as much as possible. Sky Is the limit.

Where can we find the track?
