Savoy Ellis comes in great strength with his latest release ‘Don't Break My Heart/The One (Sped Up)’. It’s important to note that Ellis wrote the lyrics and stands in as the songs’ producer but the vocalist remains uncredited.
‘Don't Break My Heart/The One (Sped Up)’ has so much to offer, from the soulful synths to the scattering of trap percussion, the whole production is empowering yet unique. The vocals have been sped up to offer a chipmunk effect similar to that found in backing ad-libs to many modern-day pop songs but this vocal effect has been used for the duration of this piece to offer something new and intriguing.
The production builds, it’s slow, soulful and relaxing to start but as it hits 1:07 the BPM bounces in full swing to create a progressive production. Both Old School and New, this is a producer and lyricist who knows how to freshen up the game.
