Alta Falls brings us a brilliant pop track powered by the funk and pace of 80s synth-wave sounds. ‘Tried To Forget About’ starts small, but it doesn’t stay that way for long. A splash and a crash and the synths are in the space. Flying around the wisened moon they cast colours over the earth and the song is spinning. Vocals bolt from the darkness and into the light, they are full, calming, and human. They hit harmonies and highs that send you spinning while weaving a story of love and determination. The push-pull in the chorus keeps you in it for the long haul. You rise, you fall, and you pick yourself back up again.
‘Tried To Forget About’ to me is a song about acceptance. Loving what you have and knowing that everything is going to be okay. That’s what pushes the song along and gives it that hopeful feeling. Alta Falls has connected to something modern and personal — in writing a song about it they have allowed us to connect to it too. Spiritual and highly melodic. Masterful.
