The UK-based dark pop band explores the blurred lines between humans and machines in their latest single, set against a haunting electronic alt-pop soundscape.
The Ethical Quandary of AI: Amaya and the Echoes' "Circuit Veins"
In their latest single, "Circuit Veins," Amaya and the Echoes confront the ethical dilemma of our growing dependency on artificial intelligence. The UK-based dark pop band crafts a haunting electronic alt-pop soundscape that serves as a cautionary tale for future generations.
The Band's Journey
Formed through a serendipitous connection on Bandmix, the band has undergone several lineup changes before settling into its current form. With Farrah (Amaya) on vocals and piano, Del on keys, Daf on drums, and Jon on guitar, the band has found its groove. Derek senior, although not on stage, plays a crucial role behind the scenes.

The Ethos Behind "Circuit Veins"
Inspired by current affairs and universal issues, Amaya and the Echoes aim to transport listeners into a new world within themselves. Their latest EP, "Echoes Within," addresses global human rights, privacy challenges, and the looming climate crisis. "Circuit Veins," in particular, focuses on the risks associated with artificial intelligence and its algorithms.
A Collaborative Creative Process
The band's creative process is highly collaborative, with each member contributing to the direction of the music. "This is the first EP where there’s solo guitar-driven parts in the chorus, thanks to Jon’s Heston Blumenthal deconstructed sandwich of parts," says Amaya.
Quirks and Quotes
From Jon electrocuting himself on an amp to a dog giving an impromptu "pawformance" at a gig, the band has its share of amusing stories. "A synth junkie with a spending addiction for new keys and devices, Del aspires to have a tower of 10 keyboards at some point," says Del, capturing the band's eclectic spirit.
The Future is Now
"Circuit Veins" serves as a warning, urging us to consider the ethical implications of our increasing reliance on machines. As we blur the lines between human and machine, the song asks us to ponder: at what cost comes this 'evolution'?
