Andy Crowe and The Eisen Family have delivered another heartwarming single that’s full of soul and rock brilliance with, ‘Not Crying Today’. The song feels like country blended with the spice of modern indie rock. It opens slowly with a minimalistic guitar and vocal pairing which then explodes into a country-style sound with open chords and a swaying melody. The harmonies throughout the song are massive and give credence to the soul genre, bolstering the chorus sections with layer upon layer of vocal talent.

The song comes in segments and I feel that adds to the emotive nature of ‘Not Crying Today’. Andy Crowe and the Eisen family have hit a perfect balance between keeping it simple, catchy and rhythmic and really turning it up to eleven and having fun with it. It comes across in the song beautifully, using organ textures to slowly build to that bridge explosion, adding an indie-style bass pulse that adds so much attitude and then chucking in some rock guitar wails just for the thrill of it. It all comes together as all good music should. There’s a message, there’s a melody, there’s a whole lot of talent, ipso facto - there’s a cracking single.
