Brooklyn-based band Aoun embarks on an emotional journey with 'Shears,' a reflective piece on the culmination of a relationship, showcasing their unique blend of art rock and folk influences.

The musical ensemble Aoun, led by the multifaceted artist of the same name, is setting the stage for their upcoming album with the release of their third single, "Shears." This track dives deep into the introspective process of ending a relationship, offering listeners a moving narrative that captures the complexities of love and loss.

Aoun, together with Guillermo Goldschmied (bass), Eli Fowler (drums), Sean Brennan (cello), and Tree Palmedo (trumpet), alongside Big Dumb Baby, crafts a sound that resonates with influences ranging from Black Country, New Road to various conceptual artists who masterfully blend story under the story through their music.

The opening is very Acoustic Post Malone. It's the hypnotic guitar plucks, the tones and the captivating emotion. As the vocals come in, they're warm, layered and emotional. The vocals lean towards alt country and folk pop. It's stunning. Something that stands out throughout the song is the way that the vocals are mixed and layered. They drift you along. When they grow, it's like you're travelling along a wave, and then you're drifting again. There's so much to appreciate here - it's a slow one but it's just so lovely to sit back and take in. "Shears" encapsulates the moment of reflection at the end of a relationship, divided into two lyrical parts capturing the before and after of its conclusion. This approach offers a raw and honest exploration of emotional states, supported by the poignant combination of guitar, bass, drums, trumpet, and cello.

It is within the use of the named instruments that this song comes to life. There's a calmness followed by a great crescendo, followed by more moments of the two. Highlighting their emerging presence in the music scene, Aoun's debut show opened for Tor Miller at the Bowery Electric in New York, sharing the stage with renowned artists and showcasing their captivating sound to an eager audience. This isn't surprising giving the pure creative flair and blissful techniques used within their sound.
