Ten years in the making, the indie pop track marks the first single from upcoming EP Reset, due June 2025.

Apteekii, the Ely and Scotland-based indie pop trio, release their long-awaited new single “The Rest Is Noise”—a brooding, introspective duet that blurs the line between love and fixation. Out on 11 April 2025, the track marks the first release from their upcoming EP Reset, due in June 2025.

A decade in the making, The Rest Is Noise began as a simple chord progression written ten years ago. The band returned to it last year, finally shaping it into a completed track that captures the disorienting emotional landscape of parasocial attachment.

“I know you and I know we should be together, even though we’ve never met,” the band explains, describing the song as leaning toward the obsessive tone of Every Breath You Take.

Tapping into themes of emotional projection and imagined connection, the song finds its voice as a duet with Claudia Kate, whose presence reinforces the eerie intimacy of the narrative.

“For some reason it stuck out as suiting a duet with Claudia Kate. Perhaps even more fittingly, we’ve never met her!”

Formed during the pandemic, Apteekii is the collaborative output of Matthew Moore (vocals, lyrics, music), Mark Hatcher (music, lyrics), and David Gane (music, lyrics). The name comes from the Finnish word for “pharmacy”—a nod to the belief that music is one of the best medicines for life’s emotional extremes.

Apteekii’s previous work includes the 2021 debut EP Secret Crowds, which was highlighted by BBC Introducing, The Unsigned Guide, and Fresh on the Net, and was nominated for two NMG Awards. Their follow-up single The Imposter also received BBC Radio 6 play on Steve Lamacq’s show.

Individually, the trio bring a wide range of experience: Moore now resides in Scotland; Hatcher is a professional esports commentator seen on Sky Sports, BBC, and Rolling Stone; and Gane is a touring technician for artists like Beabadoobee, Chvrches, and Lana Del Rey.

With The Rest Is Noise, Apteekii open a bold new chapter—turning personal distance into dreamy, slow-burning indie pop hit.
