‘No Sweet Dreams’ is the latest single from solo project, Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends. (Yes, I can confirm, the single is just as good as the name.) The sound is Neo-pop but it's not dark and derelict. It's upbeat, jovial and a right bop. The oscillating synth and whistle combo is a hook that will be with you for weeks. Its vocals are conversational and add a running melody that belts the track along allegro, the future is coming on fast. ‘No Sweet Dreams’ holds its own identity firmly in its hands and I can't think of anything that comes close to it on the scene today. Think, Talking Heads partnered with Depeche Mode for a single, one that hits those catchy riffs of Mode with the upbeat frivolity of Heads. Like that … but even better.

The song hits hard from the get-go. The synth rolls in from afar, but before it can arrive in full. Smash! Drums and whistling, the vocals chant and the hook is here. It took less than 7 seconds and I'm in for the long haul. The song dips for the verse and switches it up for the chorus but keeps the tone weird and steady. A standout single that it would be a shame to miss.
