EIGHT THOUSAND BIRDS surprise and delight on their latest single, ‘Blue House.’ It's a harmonic and solemn indie-alt-pop track that delivers all of the melody and texture that you could ever want. It's bright but dark, and once you give it a listen you’ll know exactly what I mean. The piano and strings in the back are a match pair and sing with the vocals that soar like … well … EIGHT THOUSAND BIRDS. They dip and dive and swell, a murmuration of wondrous harmonies. The story at the heart of the track is pure and well-written, you follow it like a wandering path through a copse in the wood and soon you are lost in the vivid imagery.
Instrumentals that boast strings, piano and lustrous percussion. Vocals that bite and swoon and hold a melody like a champion and a hook that will keep me coming back for days. It's a winner, ‘Blue House’ deserves all of your praise and more.
