Blending alt-rock, folk-pop, and breakbeat flair, the Alexandria-based band deliver a five-track project tailor-made for love, reflection, and long drives through memory.
Franklin Gotham, the Alexandria-based alt-indie outfit formed in 2013, close out 2024 with the release of their ninth EP, Good Times Bad Times, released via Jivin' Jones Records on 13 December 2024. Featuring five tracks that balance nostalgia with vibrant alt-pop energy, the EP is aimed squarely at listeners chasing meaning in modern moments of love, loss, and transition.
Lead single “Caroline” sets the emotional tone—a haunting indie-pop ballad that captures the ache of unresolved love and lingering connection.
“Caroline” weaves haunting melodies with raw emotion,” the band shares, “delving into the pain of lost connections and the self-aware reflection that follows.” Its wistful tone and emotional depth place it firmly among the band’s most affecting work.
The EP also includes “Life In A Northern Town”, a powerful reinterpretation of The Dream Academy’s 80s classic. Franklin Gotham’s take is rich with full-band instrumentation and signature harmonies, reimagining the track through their blend of alt-indie and folk-rock with just the right dose of reverence and invention. The result is a cover that resonates with both new audiences and longtime fans of the original.
Rounded out by tracks “Like A Guitar”, “Needles Won’t Sew”, and “Star Words” (featuring DJ Remedy), the project moves fluidly across tones—from upbeat to introspective—while staying true to the band’s DNA: emotive storytelling, melodic clarity, and genre-spanning textures that include everything from breakbeat and pop-punk to indie folk.

With a back catalogue including releases like Blueskies & Makeup (2021), Lucky Enough (2022), and You're the Moon (2023), Franklin Gotham continue to evolve while keeping their core sound intact. Their music offers a space for reflection, yet remains alive with momentum and optimism.
Whether you’re discovering them for the first time or returning for the ride, Good Times Bad Times is Franklin Gotham at their most accessible and emotionally resonant—a soundtrack for letting go, looking back, and finding your way forward.
