Mexican-Korean artist Inez Leon releases "Dios A Ella," a poignant single from her upcoming EP 'Del Alhelí,' delving into themes of femicide and divine apology.

Inez Leon, a Mexican-Korean composer, guitarist, and producer based in Glendale, California, has released her latest single, "Dios A Ella," on March 21, 2025. This evocative track serves as the second single from her forthcoming EP, 'Del Alhelí,' scheduled for release on April 18, 2025, via Muse Tones.

"Dios A Ella" offers a unique narrative by presenting the perspective of God apologizing to a woman who has fallen victim to senseless violence, specifically femicide. The song reflects on the profound moral implications of such tragedies. Leon, having personally experienced related instances of abuse, dedicates this piece to a friend she met in Mexico who endured the loss of a loved one under similar circumstances.

In discussing the inspiration behind the song, Leon explains:

“I couldn’t find a way to write a song that consoles or even begins to encapsulate the pain that comes from incidents of femicide, so I decided to make the narrator a higher power, admitting their mistakes in letting such senseless violence occur. God, a seemingly all-knowing being, takes off their veil of perfection, providing some form of closure for the person who has passed on as well as their loved ones who miss them dearly.”

The EP 'Del Alhelí' is a deeply personal project born from Leon's year-long stay in Mexico between the summers of 2023 and 2024. This period of cultural reconnection and self-discovery followed the end of a long-term relationship, serving as a time for healing. Collaborating with talented guitarists and composers Pablo Langaine and Eric Barrita, Leon transformed her experiences into songs written in Spanish. The project is named after the street she lived on during her last six months in Oaxaca De Juarez, symbolizing her love letter to Mexico and the inner transformation her ancestral home facilitated.
