Miami-based artist #CliffWhitakker is a singer/songwriter, producer, and guitar player who merges the best of several genres. From blues to hip-hop to rock #CliffWhitakker has created his own brand of Pop. His latest single entitled #SkippingStones opens with an airy guitar progression that showcases the years of skills that this artist has built up. The track has a feel of #Phora about it in its opening guitar, vocals, and steady hip-Hop drum loops. The delay and reverb are perfect here. As the track develops #ChrisWhitakker has the vocal tone of a mix between #Zayn and #HaryyStyles. This track is a masterpiece! The guitar solos of sensual and skillful. I love the way that this artist has crafted his sound in this track! I can't wait to hear more from him...But that's not all! I managed to grab the artist himself for a little chat. What would be your ultimate achievement for your latest single Skipping Stones? Is there a particular vision that you had when putting the single together?

- The vision I had for the song was that it would be a slow, dreamy song that would make listeners feel nostalgic and childlike. My ultimate achievement for Skipping Stones would be to get a sync deal for it. The song would be perfect for a movie or TV show!

Who was involved in the project alongside you?

- My friend and collaborator “XWags” helped bring the project to life by providing vocals on the second verse and in doing so, he expanded the story and message of “Skipping Stones.”

When did you first realize that you had the potential to be an artist? Is there a memory that has stuck in your mind as the turning point for you?

- I’ve always pictured the future version of myself as being a fully formed musician, creating impactful music and playing for thousands of people. I keep this thought in my mind daily, which reminds me to keep working hard and sacrificing in order to make my dream come to life. I can’t remember when I first started envisioning my future as an artist, but it must have been a few years into playing the guitar.

How would you define your sound?

- My sound is deeply influenced by blues and rock artists such as Pink Floyd, Carlos Santana, Radiohead, Coldplay and John Mayer. I like to create songs that sound simple and catchy, but also ethereal and multi-dimensional.

This might be a tricky one but Studio vs Live - Which do you prefer and why?

- Although I absolutely love playing live, I am more of a studio person. I tend to like being indoors, in quiet spaces where my creativity is undisturbed.

If you had the opportunity to work with one of your favorite musical artists, who would you most like to collaborate with and why?

- I would like to work with Thom Yorke. Every time I listen to his music, I am taken into another world. I would love to learn about his music-making process and how he creates such mind-bending songs.

What are your future plans? What can we look forward to for the rest of 2022?

- My future plans involve a series of live acoustic shows and more single releases. Eventually, once I grow my fanbase a bit more, I plan on releasing a full-length album.
