The song delves into the complexities of romantic love, contrasting an idealized, soul-based connection with the flawed realities of human relationships.
Jesabel describes the inspiration behind "We Both Know" as stemming from the duality of love. This theme is reflected in the song's structure, with the chorus embodying the ideal love and the verses exploring the struggles of earthly love.
