Mark Winters is pushing together the old house of rock and the old rock of country. Stuck in the middle is a place where music flourishes, expands and evolves. His song, ‘Life of 3,’ from his 2019 album Slipstream, is born of this place.
Guitars twang, strumming lyrical chords that rise, floating like leaves caught in autumnal winds. Then the rest of the instrumental drops in and you fly away with it. Supporting bass, drums that flick and click and a vocal that breathes a fresh outlook over you. It's positive, wondrous and human. The texture in the chorus is golden, mixing with harmonic layers to drive the melody ever higher while the verse breaks up into smaller pieces. The vocal takes on a groove, movement. It brings you closer, as to never lose you, so you may fly high in the chorus again.
‘Life of 3’ is yet another heartwarming track from Mark Winters. I implore you to take it all in, his sounds, his messages and his melodies. Mark Winters is writing music from the soul.
