'Mission' – Natalie Clark's Astonishing Indie Pop Creation Marries EDM Textures with Fireworks

When a song hits this hard your hair stands on end, your eyes alight with imagination, wild colours spin around the room. ‘Mission’ is a song that takes the textures and depth of EDM and melds it with 00s pop ideals. The vocals sit at the centre of it all, shaking off the sound with easy moves. The tone is subtle — a little bass, a couple of synths. Nothing fancy. The vocal picks up, but where is it heading? Where will it take us? The curtain is red and heavy, it flows up to an infinite ceiling and drops down below. The vocal parts the red, and when it does, the full majesty of the song rushes out from the brink.
Huge synths, complex drum patterns, a catchy-as-all-heck hook and a fire in the bass. They climb together, becoming greater as they go, stopping for a breath and then coming back stronger and stronger every time. ‘Mission’ uses electric tones as they should be used: as a secret weapon. The pulse in the back, the fire up front, there is no avoiding it. Natalie Clark holds all her aces until the last possible moment. When they come up, it’s a fantastic and fascinating explosion of tone. A wonderful and surprising single from a talent in the indie scene. What a change, a metamorphosis of a song.
