Fans Flood Birmingham’s Victoria Square for Ozzy Osbourne Memorial Today

A public memorial is brought hundreds of rock and heavy metal fans to Birmingham’s Victoria Square this afternoon, as the city continues to honour the late Ozzy Osbourne, who died earlier this week at the age of 76.
The tribute began at 1PM BST, with fans travelling from across the UK — and as far afield as Bristol, Wales, and even overseas — to pay homage to one of Birmingham’s most iconic musical figures.
Today’s gathering served as an emotional hub for fans to share personal stories, reflect on Ozzy’s global impact, and celebrate the legacy of a man whose journey from working-class Aston to international superstardom remains one of rock’s most legendary arcs.
The event comes just days after a wave of street art and public shrines appeared across the city. Most notably, muralist Mr Murals has returned to his large-scale piece on Navigation Street, adding an image of Black Sabbath from their recent farewell show at Villa Park. The new section is expected to be completed today, drawing crowds throughout the weekend.
As the day unfolds, fans are also rallying support for permanent tributes — from proposals to rename Birmingham Airport after Ozzy, to calls for a statue to be placed n the city centre. Petitions are gaining traction online, and public support continues to grow.
