With sweeping vocals, old-school production, and a cinematic choral finale, Sabrielle’s latest single is a powerful embrace of emotional messiness and healing.

Sabrielle, the rising Canadian singer-songwriter, returns with her soul-baring single “Human”, released on April 18, 2025, across all streaming platforms. Following her impactful debut “Wait I Can’t Bare,” this new release solidifies Sabrielle’s place as a fresh voice in emotional, piano-driven indie-pop.

“Human” was recorded at Summit Sound Studios in Vancouver and features a lush live arrangement with upright bass (Nicholas Bosman), grand piano, and drums (Ricardo). The track builds slowly, climaxing in a bold, a cappella choral finale that underscores its raw emotional punch. Mixed, mastered, and produced by Ricardo Pequenino, the track was run through a tape machine to achieve its nostalgic tone—melding modern vulnerability with a vintage sonic aesthetic.

Thematically, “Human” is a personal yet universally resonant meditation on imperfection, loss, and self-acceptance. Sabrielle describes it as “a written reminder that nobody is perfect—we’re human! Humans are messy, and we’re allowed to be that way.” The track channels the empowering energy of early 2000s power ballads like Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful” and Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger”, while adding Sabrielle’s own nuanced voice to the mix.

The song’s origins trace back to a late-night swing set conversation that became a mantra for Sabrielle over the course of 12 years. Known for her wide-ranging musical influences—including Sara Bareilles, Adele, and Alicia Keys—Sabrielle blends elements of pop, gospel, jazz, and R&B into her songwriting. Her sound is deeply informed by her experiences as a queer, neurodivergent woman, navigating heartbreak, healing, and personal growth.

Born into a musical family, Sabrielle’s intuitive storytelling and emotionally charged vocals shine throughout “Human.” With a background in harmonising with her family and absorbing diverse musical genres, this release feels like both a culmination and a new beginning.

“It started as a late-night conversation on a swing set and became a mantra that I carried with me for almost 12 years,” she says.

“Human” isn’t just a single—it’s a mirror for anyone who has ever felt like they weren’t enough. Sabrielle’s message is clear: being human is more than okay—it’s beautiful.
