‘Snowball’ is the debut indie rock single from your next favourite up-and-comers, The Press. They pull their massive sound from the halls of the indie greats and they push the volume up to 11. It’s a sublime combination of soul, funk, blues and contemporary hard rock. The resulting tune comes out close to Arctic Monkeys but with even more swag and endless volume. It’s crackly, tonal, and full of simple riffs that are so catchy they make your hair stand on end. The Press are wasting no time getting started on world domination, if ‘Snowball’ is only the first then there are many more great tunes to come.
The start of the single is powerful. It pulls you in with thick bass and enchanting vocals. They rise with drums in the back, tribal and quick. The pace overwhelms you and the guitars come in to steady the flow. The lights go out, the only glow now shines from the band and their tremendous play style. They set you up with verses only to knock you down with stellar choruses. Once that bridge hits you are away with the fairies, lost in a world of indie rock bliss. The Press are onto something here, and if they keep it up, we could be looking at some new megastars. Fantastic.
