With Status Quo’s Leon Cave on drums, The SKBs deliver a foot-stomping, blues-drenched celebration of old-school rock & roll.

The SKBs return with a raucous celebration of classic rock glory in their new single The Whale Edge, released globally on 28th April 2025. Capturing the essence of 12-bar rock & roll with undeniable charisma, the track fuses tight, punchy instrumentation with infectious energy – the kind that doesn’t just fill a room, but lifts it.

From the opening riff, The Whale Edge drives forward with pure, unfiltered momentum. Featuring the thunderous drumming of Leon Cave (Status Quo), the track commands attention through its raw rhythm section and spirited delivery. With nods to legends like Chuck Berry, The Rolling Stones, and AC/DC, this single feels both nostalgic and refreshingly alive—proving that the foundations of rock & roll remain as potent as ever.

What began as a passion project for songwriter Al Sharp has evolved into something far greater. The SKBs—a fluid collective of seasoned session musicians and friends—formed organically, united by their shared love of timeless rock tropes and the chemistry of a live-band setup. Initially crafted as a personal musical milestone, the project quickly gained traction, with their videos garnering over half a million views on Facebook alone. The Whale Edge continues that upward momentum, cementing The SKBs as a group with genuine grassroots appeal and unpretentious charm.

From its lyrical simplicity to its danceable, blues-rooted groove, The Whale Edge is built for joy. It’s a song for road trips, pub nights, and festival stages. The kind of track that gets better with each round of beers and every chorus sung louder than the last.

Taken from the album Where This Leads Us, the single sets the tone for a record steeped in rock tradition while embracing a community-driven ethos. The SKBs may not be your typical touring outfit, but their music captures the very spirit of live performance—raw, real, and ready to roll.

So, if you're craving a return to the golden era of rock with a fresh twist, The Whale Edge might just be the shot of sonic adrenaline you need. It's loud, it's fun, and it's proudly flying the flag for rock & roll in 2025.
