I have a question that I need answered, urgently: where in the world did The Starkillers come from? One moment I’m going about my day, nothing new, a Weetabix and raisins kind of morning. Suddenly ‘Eyes Like Fire’ hits my eardrums. Rock played with the utmost skill and musicality; drums that bark and bite, smashing cymbals in the rough; a bass line that adds some funk and beefs up the chorus, and guitars that switch between rhythm and melody so fast it's blinding. To top it all off the vocalist is blaring lyrics that cut the curd and hitting notes and textures like Gavin Rossdale with an alternative twist. It's fresh, it's funky and it’s new rock, what’s not to love?
‘Eyes Like Fire’ is a standout track, and I am positive more are on the way. The Starkillers are honing a sound that could pierce the heart of the rock gods, and I want to be around to hear it.
