VIDEOS - 30/09/22- WHO'S YA FAVOURITE?! CHART

Updated: Oct 8, 2022

NUMBER 1

FILIP DAHL - Walking Towards Eternity

Trondheim, Norway

"Walking Towards Eternity" by FILIP DAHL comes last but not least in this week's video chart! The song marks a track from the artists' EP "Storyteller" which was released...TODAY! This song is a guitar lover's dream (it is my dream and I am a guitarist...Moving on). The composition rests on a guitar-based instrumental where the tone of the guitar speaks the story rather than there being any lyrical context. The video moved me in a way that I can't explain. The passion in the guitarists' face is something that I deeply connected with and I felt every single note so I had to make this Number 1 this week.

NUMBER 2

THE GRAND PRIX - Get Some Air

Paris, France

Paris-based Indie rock quartet based THE GRAND PRI have released their latest video for their release "Get Some Air" marking their second single of 2022. The song itself showcases contemporary pop influences to create that “end of Summer” feeling that is packed with playful samples. "Get Some Air" is a window into the lethargic yet very self-conscious mind of a teenage character. The video is super cool and is guaranteed to capture the attention of 80s and 90s kids! Opening with a classic video game visual sets the scene nicely for the nostalgic feel of the visuals. How clever is that video?! Ever seen a band become PacMan? Oh wait, have you watched it yet? The link is above!

NUMBER 3

GIOVANY REVELLE - 45

Chicago, United States

"45" is the debut single from an 11-song album by Chicago-based Giovany Revelle. The track was inspired by near-death experiences which are portrayed through lyrical metaphors. The music video for "45" provides an audience with a conceptual Western-style showdown which had been filmed in Temecula, California over a three-day period. The track features Giles Corey, a well-known Chicago Blues guitarist who has played with Blues legends Otis Rush and Billy Branch. This is a music video that you really shouldn't skip! There are so many camera tricks and angles from air shots to double screens! The best thing about it is how coherently and flawlessly the video transitions. It's definitely one to see!

NUMBER 4

LEMON - Before We Fade To Grey

Amsterdam, Netherlands

"Before We Fade To Grey" marks the third single from Amsterdam-based Lemon. The song features guest singer Cath Coffey of Stereo MC's from London. Lemon's sound is heavily influenced by the sound of the Second Summer of Love. "Before We Fade To Grey" is about love (in all colours), about life and about a love for life. The visuals for the music video were recorded during Amsterdam Pride. There's a lot of love in this piece, it's organic and basic but full of one important message! and that is, to spread love. No matter the sexuality, race, or identity this video showcases what love looks like in its' rawest form.

NUMBER 5

ANDREW AKINS - I-25

Amarillo, TX, United States

Andrew Akins newest single, "I-25" marks what the artist describes as a "travelin' tune with a nice steady pace that hearkens back to traditional Americana and country-folk sounds."

Exploring the joy of a romantic moment with someone you have fallen in love with whilst driving down I-25 marks the visualisation of the song! but there's a catch of course! The narrator feels a sense of uncertainty and dread in knowing (or thinking) that things are probably going to go south at some point.

The lyric video allows the audience to read the story as it is being told alongside the visuals which help with the visualisation behind the words. A simple yet perfectly crafted video for a gorgeous song!
