WHO'S YA FAVORITE?! CHART - ACOUSTIC, INDIE ROCK & GUITAR RIFFS - 12/08/2022

NUMBER 1

JACOB REDDY - The World Is Ours (feat Novustory)

Blackburn, United Kingdom

Jacob Reddy and Novustory have come together to create this heavy and gorgeous rock duet and I am lovin’ it! Their vocals match together incredibly well with Jacob holding the depth while Novustory adds that high yet light feminine layer of vocals, combining them together to create a beautiful and powerful duo! The drummer starts the song with a simple yet effective beat for the first versus before really going for it on the chorus, keeping the fast-paced beat throughout matched with the heavy guitar riff, it really is awesome! This is one for you to really rock out to!

NUMBER 2

BETTY REED - Without You

Nashville, United States

Credit - Libby Danforth

‘Without You’ is an amazing Pop/Rock tune with a sassy edge and it has only just been released! The lyrics are catchy and full of attitude, making you want to sing loud and have a little headbang to the awesome drumbeat, the heavy riffs, and the sweet guitar solo. Reed has expressed on her socials that this song is about “when people say you can’t make it on your own, and you prove them wrong.” and “breaking free from toxic people that hold you back” and you can really tell this girl band is determined and driven!

NUMBER 3

CHRIS WENNER - The Ladder

BONN, Germany

Within the first 30 seconds, I had fallen in love with his distinctive voice! Chris Wener has a lovely, soft, and angelic vocal, layered with graceful harmonies that suit the soothing guitar riff superbly. The guitar is warm and ever so lightly strummed thus pairing perfectly with the soft essence of his vocals, the lyrics are sad yet encouraging and hopeful, one we could all possibly relate to. I seriously get a Kenny Rodgers and Wallen Jennings vibe with this track, with having a slow step beat that can bop your shoulders along to in a free-feeling sway.

NUMBER 4

FAANA - Stop Running

Prague, Czech Republic

Faana is an Indie artist creating an upbeat, jolly, and jazzy atmosphere with a fresh funky groove! It’s not surprising that his influences are ‘The Beatles’ and that 60’s swing sound is infused and encouraging within this track ‘Stop Running’. The drumbeat is big and bold with a simple rhythm and the guitar riff is light and airy until the solo which is slightly distorted and not forgetting the use of a wah-wah peddle. Amazing impact harmonies with the use of a loop station on the vocals this gives me ‘Eagles’ vibes! This tune will 100% get your hips shaking!

NUMBER 5

JYLHÄ - Queen Bee

Petäjävesi, Finland

‘Queen Bee’ is a happy, vibrant tune with an overall good feel to it! The drumbeat is simple yet effective whilst the guitar riff is upbeat and light with an ever so beautiful sustained ending. The vocals are sweet and innocent sounding with a clear vocal range allowing you to follow the story within her lyrics. I absolutely love the creative wording within this song, it’s catchy and mesmerising, making you want to listen to it again and again until you know every word. It’s truly amazing and a talent to be able to visualise a song in one's mind.

NUMBER 6

JOELL JORDI - Fly Away

Manchester, United Kingdom

Joell Jordi is an Alternative / Indie infused singer, songwriter, and inspirational musician, he is described as “90’s Brit-Pop with a modern-day cosmic twist” and I absolutely agree! I truly adore the lyrics throughout this tune ‘Fly Away’, I believe the words he sings will reach out to all listeners for them to relate and connect with and I think that is beautiful! “Fly away with me, fly away with me. Don’t ever stop being what you want to be.” This song is mentally encouraging for those experiencing hard times, it’s happy and uplifting when we do doubt ourselves!

NUMBER 7

BROKE CASINO - In The Night

Manchester, United Kingdom

Broke Casino is a 5 piece band that is ridiculously talented and are super enthusiastic musicians! Inspired by many genres between each member and combining their passions to create their own sound using Indie Rock but adding exciting features of Pop and Funk making their music stand out! The drumbeat is setting the upbeat tone while the guitar riffs are fast and funky! ‘In The Night’ screams late 80’s / early 90’s, it’s super colorful, with groovy beats and shocking breakdowns that get you up gets you loose, hips moving and dancing under the florescent disco lights! I love it!

NUMBER 8

THE MARS MCCLANES - Wherever You Go

Portland, United States

The Mars McClanes are smooth yet edgy, with hitting notes of three different genres such as Alternative Indie, Soft Rock, and a little bit of Folk Country, making their sound so desirable! ‘Wherever You Go’ is an ace tune to just vibe along to! It has a vibrant bite and is funky fun and youthful, making you want to have a little boogie. The chorus is super catchy and will have you singing along. This song holds lots of charm with an endearing lyrical story to follow, this track is full of love and happiness that I cannot deny!

NUMBER 9

SANO HILL - CircleWalk

Galway, Ireland

Sano Hill is an Irish Indie / Folk artist with extremely passionate lyrics! ‘Circlewalk’ is about dealing with the communication and frustration during the breakdown of a relationship. Creating a happy rhythmic beat which you will find yourself bopping along to which overall I find is rather contradictive of itself as the lyrics are quite sad, making it unique but still disguising one's pain behind the music. Capturing the listeners both lyrically and musically in an expressive, heartfelt way allowing listeners to connect and relate. The track ‘Circlewalk’ is one you can cry along with as you sing your heart out!

NUMBER 10

MARK ROSAL - Song For Ellen

Lake Country, Canada

Canadian singer/songwriter Mark Rosal has graced us with a soft Indie song! Rosal has many influences such as Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Leonard Cohen, and Van Morrison which you can definitely hear within Rosal’s own music. ‘Song For Ellen’ has a slow and simple beat with a light-hearted guitar riff letting the vocals take full control of the song. This track is deep, I feel it would be a very emotional performance live, the lyrics hold a tale of love, pain, and loss which sounds incredibly personal to the artist and in turn connects with the listeners.
