Dallas Singer-Songwriter Delivers a Poignant Indie-Pop Ballad, Marking a Pivotal Moment in His Musical Journey

Dallas-based indie-pop singer-songwriter Will Pogue delivers his most emotionally resonant work yet with the release of “Sleepless,” which dropped on 12 April 2025. Written and recorded over the span of nearly two years, the single reflects a transformative period in Pogue’s artistic journey, marked by heartbreak, self-reflection, and the pursuit of sonic perfection.

“Sleepless” began as an instrumental sketch in Pogue’s final year of high school. After losing the original session file, he revived the project at Dallas Baptist University with collaborators Deven Kranzberg, David Dunlap, and Cade Goebel. With Goebel assisting on engineering and mixing, and Dunlap shaping the track’s creative direction, “Sleepless” took on new life—its delayed release only adding to the weight of its message.

Drawing influence from Jeremy Zucker and Ashley Kutcher, the song is an atmospheric slow-burn layered with shimmering textures and emotionally candid lyrics. Pogue’s voice glides between vulnerability and resolve as he explores the complexities of a relationship that ended not in flames, but in silence. “We weren’t enemies, but we didn’t know how to be friends either,” he recalls—a line that underpins the track’s aching introspection.

The single was recorded at DBU’s studio, a location that has become a cornerstone for Pogue’s emerging catalogue. He debuted “Sleepless” live at the DBU Music Business Showcase, where its lush, immersive soundscape made a lasting impression.

What sets “Sleepless” apart is its atmosphere—Pogue’s ability to paint emotional depth through production. Every element, from the subdued beats to the layered harmonies, supports the track’s narrative arc. It’s not just a breakup song—it’s a snapshot of personal growth, creative persistence, and learning to let go.

For an artist still early in his career, “Sleepless” signals the arrival of a distinctive new voice in indie-pop—one that deserves to be heard.
